It's been awhile!

I'm back....again.

I know you probably thought I abandoned my blog but I didn't - not completely at least; I'm always very active on Instagram. Writing now feels foreign to me because it's been so long...too long.

I had an insightful conversation with someone the other day about one's calling in life. That conversation made me think - why did I abandon my passion? Blogging and posting on IG made me happy; why did I stop that? I'm not sure...or maybe I am and I just don't want to admit it to myself yet. Anyways, after many months of my absence, I am back. I likely won't be back in the same capacity as I was before but I don't want to spend this long away from writing again.

Y'all are probably reading this wondering if I'm okay and I promise I am, lol. All of that aside, let me get to the main topic - hair!

One: I chopped my hair off again. I cut my hair about a year or so ago and I've been lowkey addicted to cutting it since. Having a short cut is so much easier and quicker to maintain. I also happen to love the look on me. I feel free. There was a point where I was getting protective styles back to back and my hair grew a lot. I was in the awkward stage where my hair wasn't too short or too long either and I hated it. I got my scissors and cut down. I will eventually let my hair grow to the length it was before but I'm enjoying this shorter length too much.

Two: part of the reason why I cut my hair is because I decided to go back to being honey blonde for awhile. The color didn't come out the way I wanted it to but I'm going to touch up my color next month. Red forever has my heart but I'll go back to being a redhead maybe next summer? Who knows. Maybe then I'll have another color in mind. I'm learning to have fun with my hair; I used to be so uptight about losing length and worried about my hair breaking from dye, that I never experimented. Now? That's a different story.

With this TWA (teeny weeny afro), my best friend is a sponge brush. My curls don't get as defined as I like them without this brush. I could possibly do a twistout or finger coils to get definition too but I have short hair to cut down on time, not add to it! Water, of course, and my Mielle Organics Pomegranate & Honey Curl Refreshing Spray are my constant uses. In my last post from January, I mentioned that I bought two products from Pattern Beauty; I got their curl cream and styling gel. The other day, I also got their afro pick which happens to be so aesthetically pleasing. I love both the cream and gel! The cream is moisturizing and on the thicker side. The gel is light, but still moisturizing, and nicely defines my curls. The combo of the two makes my hair nice and shiny and I really like the scent. I must say, though, that my hair does tend to feel dry after a couple days. I won't fully judge until I'm able to try the leave-in.

Before I end this post, I have to hit y'all with a more recent visual of what my hair looks like. I trimmed my hair a week after this video so it's a bit shorter now.

Until next time and there will be a next time, xx
