This past Friday, I went to the hair salon for the first time ever. I know, crazy, right? Out of 25 years on this earth, I finally made the decision to, literally, put my head in the hands of another. How did my experience go? Let’s find out.
I bought hair from the beauty supply store months ago. I planned to get braids in January but things changed and the hair was just sitting in my closet. It wasn’t until recently that I constantly saw reels/videos of people getting braids which you already know gave me fever. I started heavily thinking about getting those or some locs done again. By that point, I had pretty recently taken out my locs.
I miss my locs by the way, lol. Anywho, I finally decided why wait more when I can just get them done now? I reached out to an aunt that usually does my hair and she agreed to do so.
When the time came, my aunt was no longer able to do my hair but I still really wanted braids; this led me to the hair salon.
Going to the salon, I felt strangely nervous. I can’t explain what but I felt like something would go wrong. Thankfully, nothing did!
The main thing I was worried about was bringing my own hair and after calling the salon, I found out that I was allowed to. I like to wash the hair before install because they sometimes contain chemicals that will have you scratching like crazy! If you have this issue, you should watch this video.
When I went to the salon, the first thing I noticed was how clean the place was; that’s extremely important to me, personally. I had a 3:30PM appointment but they were running behind which caused me to wait until 6PM for someone to start my head.
I look busted but I took a quick “before” picture while waiting.
That’s the only complaint I must say that I have. I didn’t expect to leave the salon as late as I did but the people there were so nice and it was kind of cool watching the results of other people getting their hair done.
When it was finally my turn, I was so happy! I got in the black, comfy chair and was hype to get my box braids. While the woman stepped away for a minute, I snapped a quick pic of myself sitting in the chair.
The woman did my hair fairly quickly, though it felt longer because of my wait. I obviously couldn’t see the back well but I already knew the braids were amazing.
By the time I finished, it was around 11:15ish PM. I didn’t take a picture of my finished look in the mirror but I do have a car pic!
I had a hat on because the next day, Saturday, was SO hot and I was going to be outside so I didn‘t want my hair also smelling like outside.
I LOVE my results and would definitely go back again! What do you think?
Until next time, xx
